gonora sounds
Gonora Sounds is a Zimbabwean family band that has been busking since 2004, led by blind singer-songwriter and guitar virtuoso Daniel Gonora, with his drumming prodigy son Isaac. Their street performances have earned millions of views online and a growing global fanbase. Following their first trip to Europe in 2022, the band are ready for more opportunities beyond their native Zimbabwe and we’re really looking forward to welcoming them to Sidmouth this summer. The duo stars in the award-winning documentary You Can’t Hide From The Truth, which tells their story of resilience. Daniel, a former member of the Jairos Jiri Band, has spent decades piecing together a living through music despite immense challenges. Their debut album, Hard Times Never Kill highlights Daniel’s talent alongside seasoned musicians like Nelson ‘Mr Longman’ Mutanda (lead guitar) and Malizani Mbewe (bass). Gonora Sounds has also collaborated with jazz legend Pharoah Sanders and international artists on What Love and had their song Rwendo Rweupenyu remixed by The Busy Twist.
