Wow! What a fantastic return for folk music and for happy audiences in Sidmouth this week. A great time has been had by all and the atmosphere has been so positive and celebratory. Heartfelt thanks to all of you who have joined us back in Sidmouth – both in person and online.

We have enjoyed some brilliant sold out evening shows at Blackmore Gardens throughout the week, starting with the ever popular Show of Hands and the dynamic Eliza Carthy Trio.

Audiences have enjoyed some truly lovely sets from Jackie Oates & John Spiers, Hannah Martin & Miranda Sykes and Jez Lowe as well as some barn-storming performances from local hero Seth Lakeman, Granny’s Attic and Banter. And it was a total joy to see all the enthusiastic dancers at Talisk’s electrifying gig. What amazing performances!

The Gardens have been full in the afternoons (despite some heavy showers) with many stand-out performances including Devon’s finest Jim Causley, the multi-talented Narthen, Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage and Cohen Braithwaite. And we’ve been thrilled to be joined by some talented young artists in EFDSS Presents with the brilliant Zoe Wren, George SansomeandThe Wilderness Yet amongst many others.

Around town, there have been some spectacular and hugely entertaining street theatre antics, delighting the crowds, with the ever-brilliant Granny Turismo, The Pigeons and Beach Patrol.

At the Ham, there has been a lovely festive atmosphere with busy Shooting Roots sessions, lots of music from the likes of Will Pound, Saul Rose and David & James Delarre as well as plenty of wonderful Walkabouts – and lots of delicious food and drink!

For those who couldn’t join us live, the Online Festival has served up some real treats and plenty of chances to participate with over 50 Zoom workshops.

Online Stage Shows have premiered daily through the week with terrific performances from Martin Simpson, Fara, Brighde Chaimbeul and many more, including performances from our dedicated studio in Sidmouth with Alice Jones, Jez Lowe, Jack Rutter and Ben Paley and some fascinating interviews with Richard Thompson, Steve Knightley and Eliza Carthy.

Look out for a bonus show from the wonderful Tim Edey now live on the website.

DON’T MISS OUT! All of these great Online Shows and Interviews will be available online until 15th August so there is plenty of time to catch up.

Access is free but please be generous, with suggested donations to help cover festival costs.
