Feedback on 2019 Festival

Thanks for the Feedback

Many thanks to everyone who took the time to send us their feedback on last year’s festival.

Each response is invaluable and read with interest by the Festival. Suggestions and issues raised were discussed in detail at our Review Days in the autumn and continue to inform the festival planning.

There was a very positive response to the introduction our reusable souvenir glasses and the introduction of these saved thousands of single-use glasses from landfill. In 2020 a second smaller size will also be introduced for greater flexibility.

Reducing the environmental impact of the festival is an important part of our planning and you can read more of the initiatives in place here: https://sidmouthfolkfestival.co.uk/environmental-impact/

The bar and catering hub at the Ham remains a popular destination, with a great festival atmosphere. We’ve had some useful feedback on the food available which has been passed on the caterers and look forward to sharing the 2020 menus with you.

With an exciting line up of concerts planned at the Ham, a number of measures have been planned to minimise any disruption to the concerts from the bar and surrounding areas, including a new covered seating area away from the venue itself.

Following the successful introduction of ukulele, bhangra and swing workshops in 2019, they are back, with new venues and formats to suit their popularity including Folkulele –  a series of ukulele workshops based on folk song, led by Norma Mills. We are addressing some of the 2019 specific issues raised with personal replies to those who supplied email addresses and requested responses.

Thanks again for all the feedback, it really does help us make the festival better for everyone!
