Are we there yet? The proper countdown has started, the venues are going up, with just days to go until this year’s much-anticipated return to a live, in-person Sidmouth Folk Festival. Get your suitcases packed! And, if you haven’t yet booked tickets, don’t wait any longer…grab them now!

We kick off with two pre-Festival special concerts and then head straight into a week-long delight of music, dance and song from 29th July – 5th August 2022.

With a flexible range of ticket types – from season to event tickets – find the best option for you, with a choice of around 700 events during the week. Dance from dawn to dusk, soak up some brillant headline shows, ‘have a go’ in a world of participatory workshops and find some new musical discoveries at smaller stages around town, including some fantastic shows at the gorgeous traditional theatre space, Manor Pavilion, with a wonderful Cream Of Devon show celebrating the home county’s traditions, curated by Jim Causley and the new concept show by amazing youth choir Stream Of Sound amongst them.

Make the week your own with an All-in-One season ticket, giving access to all festival events including the Ham Evening Concerts, and giving a discount on Pre-Festival events, including Thursday evening with the legendary Steeleye Span and Friday’s matinée show with Cornish shanty-men Fisherman’s Friends (pre-sale event tickets are now all gone, though some tickets will be available on the door.)

If you would like to pick and choose which Ham Evening Concerts you attend, including the sublime Scottish singer Eddi Reader and local heroes Show of Hands amongst many others, go for a Week Ticket or a Weekend Ticket, which offers all the discount benefits of a Week Ticket, but is valid only from Friday 29th to Sunday 30th July.

There are some brilliant evening shows in store at The Ham throughout the week from Barnsley nightingale Kate Rusby to Aussie tour-de-force The Spooky Men’s Chorale

Up the hill at The Bulverton, there is an action-packed week planned. Enjoy busy afternoons with workshops galore, from West African dance to all new creative making sessions offering the chance to get involved making some site-specific decorative artwork. Use the Festival Bus or park in the Festival Car Park adjacent to the site.

The Bulverton is also the one-stop shop for a great Big Night Out: starting early with some lively music sessions in Betsy’s Lounge, staying on for some great, tasty food and drink, dancing the night away with some brilliant floor-filling main show acts – think English roots reggae from Edward II, Highland rave from Peatbog Faeries, swirling Euro-dance from Blowzabella, agit-pop from Grace Petrie, foot-stomping dance medleys from Sheelanagig (see video above) and retro folk-pop from Joshua Burnell Band – followed by a Late Night Extra ceilidh and an early hours acoustic chill out space!

How about trying The Urban Folk Theory’s all new, shiny Silent Live Ceilidh on Thursday 4th August? A spectacle to behold, as happy head-phoned ceilidh groovers take their pick from top trad tunes played live versus classic and ground-breaking dance, pop, reggae and folk tracks re-mixed specifically for the ceilidh. Get your dancing shoes ready!

There’s a wealth of music, dance and song to choose from throughout the week. With your ticket to the festival events, you also get to soak up the friendly festival atmosphere throughout town: seaside holiday spirit and Sidmouth streets filled with colourful dancing and music wafting through the air.
