An iconic name on the Celtic music scene, Skipinnish have their roots deeply entrenched in the rich musical traditions of Scotland. A powerhouse band blending voice, bagpipes, accordions, fiddles, on a rhythmical foundation of drums, bass and keyboards, as Skipinnish steps into its 25th year, they remain a beacon of Scottish music.

Tickled Pink doing it just one more time. A ‘one time only’ full line up reunion of the ‘enfants terrible of the ceilidh scene. Originally formed in 1989 as the perfect antidote to the stiff-starchy Country-dance bands of the time. They set out to be a band that could play traditional English music that rocked, rather than just being another ‘Folk Rock’ Band.

Saturday 3rd August

Sea Song Sessions + Frankie Archer

A rare festival appearance, showcasing some of the best of the current crop of British folk artists – Jon Boden, Seth Lakeman, Ben Nicholls, Emily Portman, Jack Rutter – and delivering some of the best music you’re likely to hear this year. The Sessions is a collection of British maritime folk songs and sea shanties from each artist’s repertoire, including some newly written for these sessions.

Reflecting the Folk Camps ethos of inclusivity and fun, this multi-generational Party Band are great to dance to, and the excitement and joy of music making by all in the band is a joy to witness.

We Are The Monsters + Saltfishforty

Tyneside electro-folk pioneers, the freestyle dance version of the Monster Ceilidh Band, features accordion star Amy Thatcher, violinist Grace Smith, octave mandolin player Kieran Szifris, drummer Joe Truswell and award-winning electronic experimentalist and bassist David de la Haye.
Powerhouse duo Saltfishforty bring fresh and dynamic rhythms direct from Orkney.

As they enter their firth decade, The Cock & Bull Band continue to be one of the most exciting folk-rock bands on the circuit.

Local heroes Mad Dog blend a unique mixture of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz and bluegrass music. From self-penned songs of adventure, drinking, love and life to traditional songs of gypsies, fairies, legless pirates and black flies – Mad Dog capture their audience with their infectious songs.
Oli Matthews and his folk-funk Band deliver gripping melodies, punchy brass sections and funky bass lines, delivered with an energetic vibe.

LNE: Melrose Ceilidh Band. Caller Fee Lock
This is a ceilidh with a difference, as Melrose use their strong acapella harmony singing as well as instruments for the dance music, to great effect.

A unique band that makes a driving drone-based wall of sound, played with a fabulous sense of melody, rhythmic expertise and sheer feeling. Andy Cutting, Jo Freya, Paul James, David Shepherd, Barn Stradling and Jon Swayne compose their own music, influenced by English and European traditional folk music and song.
Re:Vulva are a dynamic four piece infusing irresistible millennial pop vibes with undying folk traditions.

Making the most of their long goodbye, celebrating 45 years on the road, the Oyster Ceilidh Band will have that Bulverton floor bouncing. A Sidmouth Special to remember.

Brown Boots Boogie Band (Final LNE)

Brown Boots Boogie Band is the punchy and energetic group led by Will Allen on melodeon and Martin Clarke on fiddle, with piano from Will Chamberlain and Paul Quarry on snare drum. This is music meant for dancing. All the energy of a late-night session with a totally unstoppable groove.

The Bulverton-in-One (BiO) tickets cover all 8 days of everything at The Bulverton including evening events, LNEs, workshops plus full Week Festival Camping  that’s £30.25 a day (£21.50 for Under 25s)

About the Bulverton

The Bulverton, and Betsy’s is the hub for high energy festival action through ‘til the early hours.

A standing marquee venue, next to the Festival Car Park and up from Campsite, features dynamic evening roots shows, energetic & welcoming LNE ceilidhs, early doors sessions at Betsy’s overlooking the Valley, craft & dance workshops during daylight hours, campfire sessions and a post-Late Night Extra (LNE) Betsy’s Lounge, a social space dedicated to relaxation and late-night playing and singing.

Doors and Sessions 7pm, Support acts 8.15pm. Headliners on stage approx. 9.05pm unless otherwise stated.

LNE starts 11.15pm. LNE dance displays at midnight. LNE ends 01.15am. After last orders, Betsy’s remains open as a space for sessions.
Tickets include Late Night Extra (LNE) events, Betsy’s and Campfire sessions.

Under 25’s Discount

There are a limited number of Bulverton Evening tickets at £10 for anyone 25 & Under (aged 18-25).

Sidmouth Residents Discount 

Discounts available to residents who to live within the Sidmouth Town Council area for Pre-Festivals, Ham Afternoon concerts, Ham Evening concerts, Bulverton evening and Bulverton Late Night Extra events. These are available in person, in advance from Sidmouth Tourist Information Centre (TIC) and the Box Office, with identifying documents. Not available on the door.

Refunds & exchanges

There are no refunds or exchanges on any tickets and lost tickets cannot be replaced. We advise you to take out appropriate cancellation of holiday insurance that covers the cost of your tickets should you unfortunately need to cancel your attendance at the Festival for any reason.
