Sidmouth ceilidhs are renowned for fun, energy and great dance-able bands. You can fill your dance card with daily ceilidhs and dances at the welcoming Blackmore Evening Ceilidhs as well as the after-hours knees-ups at Bulverton Late Night Extras and more, at the Anchor Gardens and beyond.

A line-up of leading ceilidh bands from around the country includes:

WHAPWEASEL

Delighting and exhausting folk dance enthusiasts for the past 20 years with their unique, exhilarating and fantastic music style

THREEPENNY BIT

play bold arrangements of traditional and original tunes with infectious energy.

THE GLOWORMS

play thumpy English music with metropolitan sophistication, swing and 100% commitment to dance rhythm. Laurel Swift, Jon Brenner and Colin Cotter create a layered texture of driving rhythms and counter-melodies on fiddle, accordion, banjo and stompbox.

TOKEN WOMEN

Celebrating 30 years in the business, nobody sounds like them and every gig is a party.

THE COMMITTEE BAND

Rising phoenix-like from the ashes, The Committee Band, first formed in January 1985, bring a wealth of dance-band experience to ensure a great night of dancing.

BLACKBEARD’S TEA PARTY

the ever-popular band bring us their distinctive brand of gutsy folk rock, with driving riffs, playful arrangements and driving dance rhythms.

OUT OF HAND

one of the most energetic, danceable bands on the UK ceilidh circuit. A young, vibrant and exciting folk-rock ceilidh band, playing trad and new tunes.

KIRKOPHANY

John Kirkpatrick marshals his family into a force of “joyful romp”-based English ceilidh dancing. Five Kirkpatricks, five Shropshire Bedlams – you have been warned! Plus The Jam and Crumpet Band, Mrs Midnight’s, The Old Chapel Band, The Jigalots and more.

NEW FOR 2019 – NEW CALLERS’ SHOWCASE NIGHT

Tuesday evening at the Blackmore Gardens.

An opportunity for ceilidh callers never previously booked at Sidmouth to showcase their talents, and call with top band The Gloworms (featuring Jon Brenner, Laurel Swift & Colin Cotter.)

The evening is being organised by Sidmouth regular MC, Michael Catovsky. Dancers will get a great evening of seamless, high quality calling & music, and the chance to dance to the calls of some new faces.
