A huge thank you to everyone, especially YOU, for making it such a memorable week!

The weather gods have been kind,…but it’s been your festive, sunshine spirit that has made the week so special. Great to see everyone enjoying themselves at venues and events around town, packed with audiences enjoying the best music, dance, song, talks, storytelling, Children’s Festival events and much more.

We’re keen to hear how your week has been. Remember to visit the website to fill in a feedback form. We are always keen to use feedback to have a positive impact on future events.

What have your highlights have been?

The monster night with Blowzabella celebrating 40 years up at Bulverton, or the mighty wall of sound that is Eliza Cathy & The Wayward Band. Or maybe it was the inspirational talents of the National Folk Ensemble at the Ham? Or, like Artistic Director, Alan Bearman, the packed Wednesday evening session in the Rugby Club with dozens of young musicians and steppers from Feis Rois Ceilidh Trail, NYFE and Shooting Roots?

What were your new musical discoveries?

The wonderful, soulful rembetika of Plastic Karekles? The medieval/contemporary fusions of Emily Askew? The gentle acoustic beauty of Ye Vagabonds or the standing ovation performances of Ryan Young & Jenn Butterworth? We’d love to hear about your ‘best bits’!

Festival director John Braithwaite says:

“It’s been a splendid week; one of the best on record (breaking all records for the numbers of dips in the sea taken and ice creams eaten!). There have been some standout performances from many big artists, including Fairport Convention’s Sidmouth debut and splendid concerts from new/emerging artists. Not to mention all the wonderful special Sidmouth events like the Morris Party and the Sidmouth Horse Trials. All in all, a great lead in to our 65th in 2019.”

Next year’s Sidmouth FolkWeek runs from 2nd – 9th August 2019.
