Norma Mills – Folkulele workshops
Norma Mills has run the ukulele club in Stroud for 15years and has delivered workshops at festivals, in schools and for adult groups. She also runs a weekly song and music session at Stroud Brewery and plays piano accordion with the Bees Knees barn dance band. Norma’s husband, Mark Wallis from the Perfect Cure, will also be on hand to help with technique and tuning.
SUNDAY AUGUST 2ND

BEGINNERS WOKSHOPS
This will be for total beginners or anyone who wants to go over the basics to improve their playing.
We will cover basic chords to accompany traditional songs and shanties. There will be up to ten soprano ukuleles available for people to borrow . Participants would find a music stand useful if they have one,
The Workshops are progressive but we will do our best to cater for anyone who misses a day. We will work to a performance at the Friday Showcase. Children 8+ would be OK accompanied by parent/carer.

EXPERIENCED WORKSHOPS 4×1 hour
The experienced workshops cater for people who can already play the basic chords. Topics covered will include ways of accompanying traditional songs, playing melodies from TAB, accompanying folk tunes and preparing for a Showcase performance. Some of the songs will have been used in previous years year, but there will be new songs to try.
The workshops are progressive but we can cater for people who miss a session or drop in. Spare ukuleles will be on hand.
