When a woman is remembered as “the most beautiful,” you’re about to hear a tragedy. Helen of Sparta and Troy, remembered as the most beautiful woman in the world, is often reduced to the war she inspired, but not what she thought as Troy burned. The Curse of the Most Beautiful explores this pattern through the stories of these women including La Llorona, Helen of Sparta and Troy, and Rani Padmavati, asking what is lost when women are remembered for their beauty rather than their voices, choices, or grief.
