On 23rd April, we will announce our plans for the festival this summer, which is being planned within present and projected restrictions, whilst looking forward to a full and improved festival in 2022.
The Festival Team
A national treasure – a major cultural institution held every year in the first week of August since 1955 attracting tens of thousands of visitors.
A champion of folk traditions – with over 700 diverse events with a wide-ranging ‘something for everyone’ appeal.
An ear to the past and an eye on the future – established stars brush shoulders with emerging talent in major concerts, lively roots parties, small intimate sessions, ceilidhs, folk dancing, storytelling events, fun family entertainment, youth-centred sessions, hands-on workshops and spectacular dance displays.
A local focus on the best in South West crafts and the tastiest of local food and drink.

We provide a number of options to make the festival accessible to those with varied interests and to those with limited time and finances.
Of course! One of the best ways to enjoy the festival is to use the Official Festival Campsite. Bring your tent, caravan or motor home and set up on the campsite with views across the valley, fresh air and a community spirit for a true festival experience.
We try to make the Festival as accommodating as possible to all people. Wheelchair access is available at most venues (see below) and our volunteer stewards are always ready to assist with any special requirements.
We advise you to use public transport wherever possible. Stagecoach runs a bus service in the area, connecting Sidmouth with Exeter, Honiton and Ottery St Mary.
