WORKSHOPS

Thu 8th, 11am, Sidmouth Primary School
Beginners Northumbrian Piping workshop with Camus. A brief taste of the Northumbrian small pipes for absolute beginners, using our practice sets. We’ll demonstrate and explain the pipes and their history, then give the group a 30 minute introductory experience of playing them in two successive groups, supported by our tutors.

Thu 8th 8:30pm-10:00 pm Rugby Club Northumbrian Tunes with Camus. A mixed instrument session in G. Come and learn Northumbrian tunes and play them with the pipers on your fiddles, melodeons, guitars, whistles, etc. Find the tunes from the QR code online if you’d like the dots in advance – but “by ear” is fine!

Camus

Camus is a traditional folk band, named after a village in County Galway, featuring Andrew Burn (melodeons, vocals, Northumbrian small pipes), David Somerville (keyboard, Northumbrian small pipes), Greg Smith (fiddle, viola) and Brian Cleary (guitar, vocals, bouzouki). Playing an exciting mix of traditions, with influences from Northumberland, Ireland and Shetland, a dash of bluegrass and Galician, and their own tunes and songs.
